Following a hugely successful St Margaret’s Pilgrimage on Sunday 2nd June, planning is already underway for next year’s event on 7th June 2020. Fr Chris Heenan of St Margaret’s Memorial RC Church thanked everyone who helped organise the event and turned up on the day to celebrate the life of the Queen and Saint who lived nearly 1000 years ago.
“It was a wonderful occasion and I’m delighted that Rev MaryAnn Rennie, Minister of Dunfermline Abbey and the Kirk Session offered the joint ecumenical service at Dunfermline Abbey which proved to be a great way to start proceedings. Margaret is an exceptionally important figure to Dunfermline as well as the whole of Scotland so it was fitting that a celebration of her life was as inclusive as possible.
“I’d also like to thank singer and songwriter Barbara Dickson for coming along and reading a lesson at the Mass in the afternoon.”
The day also included tours of local sites associated with St Margaret by Discover Dunfermline Tours as well as music from the Lochgelly Brass Band and local pipers.
